Devil Catcher

Or four-sided die
I told my oldest son I'd make him something for his new place, and he requested a devil catcher. I was thinking more of a mobile than a nature project like the other one I made, so this is the beginnings of it.

LOST Art

Even if you know nothing about LOST the television show (where have you been hiding?) here's enough info for you to grock the point of this post:
LOST is a huge mystery. A mystery within a mystery. And everything and anything can be a clue, anything on the show itself, or on the mini-games and clips on the web. The interest in this show (IMHO) is trying to piece together clues, and come up with theories on what is actually going on. Maybe like a giant interactive game of Clue, or one of those murder mystery parties.
Not too long ago, one character was doing some watercolor painting. I always love to notice when television or movie characters do arts and crafts, it doesn't seem to happen that often. And unfortunately, a lot of the times I've seen characters doing arts and crafts the character was where this one was: a mental hospital. (So does television tell us only mental patients do arts and crafts? I don't think so, I just think television doesn't want to remind us too often about the creative things we could be doing while or instead of watching-it doesn't want the competition. ;p That's my crackpot theory, and I'm sticking to it.)
So this character was painting with watercolors, and I, like every other LOST watcher I presume, started thinking about the clue that was in the painting. Does it mean he was abducted by Penny's people that are stationed in the Arctic? Does it mean the LOST writers are going with the super crackpot (again, IMHO) theory of the hollow Earth, and that the island they are on is directly tunneled to the North Pole? Does it represent that character himself, and that he was at some point in the cold weather?
Sorry, I probably lost a few non-LOST-ers there. Suffice it to say that there was much speculation over the painting.
Anyway, I heard an interview with this actor, and when questioned about the painting, he admitted that the producer just told him to paint, not what to paint. So whereas the actor thought about what his character might paint, the producer and writers did NOT have a specific clue in mind.
Sometimes a cigar is really just a cigar. But why he's eating the Cheetos is still a controversial question. ;p

There's lots of places out there on the net with screen grabs, I got this one from one of my favs: Lost Easter Eggs. Thanks.

Light!

So if I've never mentioned it before, My Guy is a bit of a Media Head. A Bit. The list of movies he's seen would fill a book, and do not ask him how many songs are in his iTunes unless you really want to know. Before he moved here, he got himself a projector tv, which moved in with him, along with the TiVo and surround sound. That was a while back, and that projector served him and us well until recently, when it became clear that it was time for the projector to move out to pasture. (It had developed this nasty loud sound, which was something inside grinding, and wasn't going to last very long.) So through the magic of a great sale, price matching, good credit, and some gift card money, he got a new one last week.
Turns out, like every other electronic product, projectors have been getting better, as in more sophisticated, with better features. The old projector was pretty dark, and the room had to be really dark to see it well. It was like always being in a theatre, literally. The new one is soooo bright, you can even have the overhead light on, and still see it, like it was a regular television.
This is very, very exciting to me. Why? you may ask, go ahead, ask.
Because now, it might actually be possible for me to do something while watching! I just may finally learn how to knit!! I'm so excited!

As Seen on TV

In case I've never mentioned it here, my guy works at a television station. He works in Master Control, which is as important as it sounds.
In his Secret Santa game at work, he drew the name of the evening female anchor, and he's been having lots of fun with it, including making comics for clues. He decided a couple weeks ago, the he would employ my talents as a jewelry desinger to help him in his secretive task. (After all, I usually employ his audio talents whenever I can get away with it!)
He found a necklace idea on-line that he liked, and after discussing what was needed, he went to the store and purchased beads all by himself (as our schedules were really off that week). The idea he had found was mostly just a template, the beads he came home with were beautiful, and very different from the web idea. This is the necklace I/We created. He gave it to her yesterday as the last gift of their Secret Santa. She loved it!
And tonight, on the 5, 6, and 10, she was seen wearing my/our creation!
